Micromax Canvas HD Root Guide


The Canvas HD has just been launched, but guess what, it has been rooted. So, if you were one of those who got hold of this mobile the day it was launched, and now want to root it to remove the in-built crap software, using titanium backup, or just want to gain complete access over your phone follow the guide bellow to Root Micromax Canvas HD.

Its the updated guide, and is working.

Tip : Rooting voids the warranty of your mobile. Please un-root it if you want to claim warranty.


Requirements

  • CWM Rewcovery
  • Flash Tool
  • A PC.
  • A Micromax A116 :)
  • In your Canvas HD go to Settings>Developers Option>USB Debugging, and turn it on.
  • Download Root Package ( Link )
  • Download root files, and copy them into your Canvas HD. ( File 1) ( File 2)

Root Micromax Canvas HD

  1. Connect your Micromax Canvas HD to your PC.
  2. Now install the mobile drivers. ( Download Link )
  3. Download SP Flash Tools, and now extract and open it.
  4. Now extract the Stock ROM, and replace recovery.img with CWM Recovery. ( Download CWM Recovery )
  5. In SP Flash Tools, click on Scatter-Loading and the program will ask you the location of the scatter loading file for your device.
  6. In the extracted folder of the root package (stock rom), go to the folder named "S9201_MP_F4_B1_IN_MMX_0.16_flasher_user" and select the file "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc" which is the Canvas HD's scatter loading file.
  7.  Now check only recovery.img, and uncheck all the other options.
  8. Switch off your Canvas HD, and disconect it with your PC.
  9. Now in Flash Tool, go to options, and and click USB Mode so that it is enabled. 
  10. Now click options again and then go to DA Download All > Speed and finally select High Speed.
  11. Click on Download button ( present on the right of Firmware -> Upgrade )
  12. Now connect your Canvas HD to your PC ( don't turn it on )
  13. The Flash Tool will start the flashing process, the progress of which can be viewed from a yellow progress bar at the bottom of the flash tool.
  14. After the process completes, a green ring will appear on your device signalling that the process was successful.
  15. Now, disconect your Canvas HD.
  16. Hold the power button and the volume rocker (both up and down) button until you see an option appear on screen.
  17. Tap the Volume up button to enter the device in recovery mode.
  18. Now select flash update zip, and flash the 2 files that you copied into your Canvas HD.
  19. Done you are rooted !


That is it ! Congrats you have rooted your new Canvas HD !

    To resolve the issue for the "SP tools gives error :8200"
    Please install a newer version of SP Flash Tool. It worked for me.
